Lesson 2 - Final Transform (FX) - the white trianglethis is something I wrote long ago when we just started exploring the Apophysis, and I bring it here for the new fractalers and for those who might missed it. I want to say few words about a special triangle you might find in the TRANSFORM EDITOR...
as you may know...the triangles (transforms) in the transform editor have colors. each triangle has it's own color no matter how many triangles you have. you may add triangles or delete some (and of course transform them) and they all have a uniqe color. before i'll get to explain something about the special triangle i want to say that basicaly what the triangles do is EFFECTING EACH OTHER! each triangle has its own properties like size, coordinations and variations and depending its own properties it's effecting ALL the other triangles. it's like making a cake mixture...what ever you add to the mixture of the cake effects the whole compound! lets say you put in a bowl the first triangle and it is flour, the second triangle will be water...and when you add water to flour you get a mixture that is not water and not flour...you get that sticky thing we call pastry and obviously the relation (amount) between the flour and water effect the final result. now we can add to the compound eggs, and yeast, and sugar...and each and every one of the components (triangles) will effect the whole compound...(yummy)...but...in this transform editor you might find two EXEPTIONAL triangles the first is the REFERENCE TRIANGLE which color is Grey, and it is static, and boring cos you can't do anything with it LOL...let's just say that all the other triangles refer to it...so it's essential in many ways but i'll let you feel and discover by your own at this point how exactly each fancy colord triangle refers to it.
the second exeptional triangle is the WHITE triangle! it's name is Final Transform (FX) and this is the one i want to talk about now. the white triangle is not always there, i mean you might not find it sometimes, but it is very common in the .FLAME files and you probably already met it. actually the white triangle is a very new feature that only belongs to the newest beta versions of the Apophysis...so what's the story of this triangle that i bother to write about it so much? this triangle is NOT part of the compound!!! it just transform the WHOLE compound in the same way that you take the pastry (our compound) and shape it into various sapes...like cookies in different shapes ,you can take the same pastery and transform it to a star shape or a round shape or a bunny or whatever you want..that's what the white triangle does and it's function is calld FX !!!! you'll find the FX ICON as the last icon in the row at the transform editor's window and you can toggle it ON and OFF.in a case that you have a fractal with NO white triangle, toggling the FX function ON will give birth to it but toggling it OFF again will not make it dissapear, it will just cancel it's effect and leave the triangle at it's place (if you don't want to see the white triangle you'll just have to delete it).
now...when i open a fractal with a white triangle...the first thing that i do is to toggle OFF the FX icon in order to see the "pure" compound, it makes me understand better whats going on in the preview window and to control the final result much better...i mean, to make the pastery tastier ofcourse ...then i may turn the FX on again or not...depending the guests

LOL...thank you X!!! ...I'd PAY to know how you English speakers hear or read the things I write PM ... there's a small (maybe "medium") confusment with the scripts in Apophysis...the thing is that people sometimes call's "saripts" to two different kind of files...the .FLAME files and the .ASC files and these files are two very different "things".
when you open a .flame file and see it's script, all you have to do is copy and paste the text to the main Apo window.
when opeining a .asc file you have to copy the script and then click on the Edit script icon (looks like a white page with a fountain pen) so the Script editor window opens... and there you should paste the script and then click the Run button in order to activate it.
sometime soon I will write a lesson about the .asc scripts and what they do and who (geeks, geeks and some more geeks) invented them. if you're talking about a FLAME script that doesn't work when you paste it, I wrote long ago that sometimes there's a problem with some code lines in the bottom of the script...the lines that start with EDIT, EDIT TIME...there's a need to delete them (with word processor) before pasting them and then they work.
