OK, i used the render described here and it worked just as A described it would.  My render took 10 minutes, LOL!  But I know why...  I used the 64 bit instead of 32, and also I set the quality to 4000 instead of 2000.  I unfortunately forgot to set the size larger, but the image looks amazingly smooth!  Cheesy

Woo-Hoo!  It saves the flame, too!  I finally KNOW how to do this!  ThanX, "A"!  Cheesy

Mine took 10 minutes or so as well X... I may have had mine set at 4000 as well. I think once the settings are tweaked things will be a lot quicker...

Happy birthday Grin

does X is having a birthday???  Shocked

and btw the rendering quality doesn't influence the rendering duration...
you can set it to 2000 or 4000 and it'll take the same time for it to render...sounds irrational, I know...but that's hoe it is..LOL

the things that influence most on the rendering duration are:
1. the size of the image (the bigger the slower...if you set the width to 800 it should be fine)
2. the ZOOM value (the more you're zoomed-in the longer it takes to render...the recommended zoom amount is -0.5)
3. hmmm...your PC performances...

Kiai...you can upload the flame that took you 10 minutes to render and i'll see if I can render it quicker.

Kathryn, the high render is awesome and makes a big difference!  Make a new folder on your desktop by right clicking and hitting "new", then name it what you like (I called mine "renders", lol!)  Then, follow "A"s instructions, and make sure that you make the path in Apophysis pointing to your new folder, my path is as follows...

C:\Documents and Settings\User\Desktop\RENDERS\

Then, at the end of the path you type in what you want to name your fractal, like this...

C:\Documents and Settings\User\Desktop\RENDERS\1stRender.jpg

Then, you just hit the render button.  When it is done, you go into your render folder you made on the desktop, and the image is in there and so is the flame file for it!  Cheesy

Hope this helps,
"X"

Many thanks X - I shall give it a try - if it STILL does not work for me - I shall just upload the images my way I guess!! LOL Tongue But then again I am not that picky about how it looks LOL I am just having  more fun just creating the images!! - You all just  make it look just sooooooooo easy!!! Tongue

Just one more silly question!! LOL Does it matter if I use C or E because A has it in E in the the info about the High quality render.

Kathryn...the making of the fractals IS the main thing!
improving the rendering quality is just a small thing that makes them sharper, that's all...you'll get it sooner or later in your own rythem Smiley

about the E or C question...the answer is YES it does matter.
the folder that I save my images in is located in my E hard drive.
you must write the exact location on YOUR PC of the folder you want your images to be saved in.

you said before that you want your rendered images to be saved in your "My documents" folder
it is so easy to do it...you'll cry when you'll see how easy it is...LOL

follow these steps exactly and see...

1. open your Apohysis
2. make a fractal you like to render
3. click the Render icon

4. the render window will open up automaticaly
5. in the DESTINATION section click on the little Yellow folder icon !
6. a Save AS window will open...there, all you have to do is to brouse your "My Documents" folder. once you found it...click SAVE!
the window will close and the exact location of your "My Documents" folder will be written automaticaly where it should. (you don't have to change anything in the File name box! just move on to the next step)
7. change the WIDTH in the Size section to 800 (just like in the first instructions)
8. click RENDER

that's it actually...now the Apo will start the rendering proccess and when it finish...

9. open your "My Documents" folder and youi'll find there you rendered fractal image !

Many thanks for your help A  - I was right in the middle of trying to respond to you and before I could finish responding - I lost the internet connection (I have dial-up) because the City of Fort Lauderdale (that is where I live)  is putting in sewer lines in my neighborhood and one of the guys had cut the phone lines by accident - so I could not use the internet for a short few hours!! So in the meantime I still tried what you said and still says "Directory does not exist" - I will keep trying and trying at it.

Oh so it's a competition now then is it?...LOL Grin.... I tell you what, next time I make one I'll do it as you say, to the letter... If it takes me forever then I'll post the flame and you can have a look at if for me and see what you can do... Would that be alright, I don't want to be putting any extra work on to you as I think you work hard enough as it is.... I do appreciate it though... I don't mind waiting 10 minutes as I can get on with other things but I'd much rather have the result quicker than that... Tongue

10 or 3 minutes is a significant.
If it's juat a matter of a tweak or two, i'd love to help you or anyone make it.

Hi there A....Just stopping by to tell you that your lessons are most wonderful..Once a thick
head like myself finally "get it"  The long render has turned into a short render and the fractals
all are smooth and amazing...so I bow down to your teaching skills...and thank you very much
for all the work you put into helping us..I for one am very grateful...see you soon....some family
issues here keep me away for awhile...hugs...ria

Thank you A... Grin If you think waiting 10 minutes is unacceptable then unacceptable it is... Cheesy thank you for your support.. watch out for my newest but not necessarily bestest fractal....LOL... Grin

Marmite you are doing great...just keep practicing and keep asking questions..everyone on here
is willing to help....great job..the only thing I would say is make it a bit smaller so it wont
take as long to render....like 800 x 750...something like that..Ria
